Tim Williams leads Samford past W Carolina 93-86
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tim Williams scored a career-high 32 points to lead Samford to a 93-86 victory Saturday night over Western Carolina.
Brandon Roberts hit a 3-pointer sparking an 8-0 run to give Samford an 86-78 lead with 1:11 remaining. Tawaski King scored to pull Western Carolina within six points, 86-80 with 57 seconds left. Michael Bradley answered with a dunk and Samford was 5 of 6 from the line to seal it for the Bulldogs.
Williams was 10 of 11 from the field and 12 of 13 from the line. Williams is now just nine points shy of 1,000 in his career. Bradley added 15 points for Samford (12-19, 6-10 Southern), which snapped a four-game losing skid.
Trey Sumler scored 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting to lead Western Carolina (17-14, 10-6). King scored 12 points and Mike Brown and Brandon Boggs each added 11 for the Catamounts, who have lost two straight.
