Harvard trounces MIT 79-37 in home opener
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wesley Saunders scored 14 points to lead Harvard in a commanding 79-37 victory over MIT on Tuesday.
Harvard (2-0) used a 20-0 run to open a 37-11 lead late in the first half on its way to a 41-14 halftime advantage.
Zena Edosomwan scored 13 points off the bench and Kyle Casey added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Crimson. Twelve of the 13 Harvard players that played in the game scored in the blowout win.
The Harvard defense held MIT (0-1) to 27.9 percent from the field. Turnovers were also an issue for MIT, committing 29 compared with seven for the Crimson.
Matt Redfield led MIT with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Crimson defeated MIT for the 11th consecutive time and Harvard has now won its last nine home openers.
