DEKALB, Ill. -- Jordan Aaron scored 16 points and Milwaukee overcame poor shooting to defeat San Jose State 64-61 in the NIU Invitational on Friday night.
San Jose State was able to come within three points with 13 seconds left off a pair of Brandon Mitchell free throws. Aaron made one of his two free throws with 10 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Austin Arians scored 14 points and Matt Tiby had 12 and grabbed eight rebounds for Milwaukee (2-1). The Panthers shot just 37.3 percent for the game and were outrebounded 43-34.
The Spartans weren't much better from the field, shooting 38.9 percent. San Jose State is still searching for their first win under new head coach Dave Wojcik. Rashad Muhammad scored a game-high 17 points.
