Delaware tops Cal Poly 82-72
NEWARK, Del. -- Jarvis Threatt scored 25 points and Delaware got past Cal Poly 82-72 on Saturday in the last nonconference game for both schools.
Delaware (8-7) built a 47-33 halftime lead behind 14 first-half points from Devon Saddler and Cal Poly (4-9) trailed by double digits in the second half until the final minute of the game.
The Blue Hens found success at the free throw line, shooting 82 percent in the game. Delaware attempted 39 free throws compared with just 13 for the Mustangs.
Threatt scored 13 of his points at the line and added eight rebounds and seven assists. Saddler scored 22 points, Kyle Anderson had 15 and Davon Usher added 12 for Delaware.
Anthony Silvestri led Cal Poly with 14 points and Kyle Odister added 12.
The matchup was the first ever between Delaware and Cal Poly. Delaware's eight nonconference wins are its most since the 1999-2000 season.
