Mason with 39, Niagara beats Brown 68-65
NEW YORK -- Antoine Mason scored a career-high 39 points as Niagara held on to beat Brown 68-65 on Sunday.
Mason shot 11 of 25 from the floor (44 percent), and made 14 of 17 from the free-throw line. Niagara (4-9) made just 21 of 65 shots (32 percent) but went 22 of 27 from the line.
Mason, who leads the nation in scoring with an average of 28.3 points a game, scored more than 30 points for the eighth time this season. His 39 points are the most made by a Purple Eagle in seven seasons.
Sean McGonagill scored six straight points for the Bears in the final minute and finished with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Brown (6-5) turned the ball over 25 times, 13 in the second half. The Bears have lost their last three, and all of their losses have come by a margin of six points or less.
