Canisius defeats Lamar 87-74
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Billy Baron scored 16 points with seven assists and six rebounds, leading five players in double figures, as Canisius defeated Lamar 87-74 on Saturday.
Jordan Heath also had 16 points, Chris Perez had 14 and both Chris Manhertz and Zach Lewis posted 10 for the Golden Griffins (8-4). Canisius was 46.8 percent from the field, 73 percent from the line and 50 percent from 3-point range.
A Dominique Raney 3-pointer at 14:23 in the first capped a 17-6 run by Canisius to start the game. The Golden Griffins were up by 15 at the break. Octavius Green hit a 3-pointer with 50 seconds left to play to bring Lamar to within nine but the Cardinals would not get any closer. Lamar had 19 turnovers in the game.
Green led the Cardinals (1-10) with 15 points and nine rebounds. This was the seventh straight season loss for Lamar.
