Colgate stops streaking Lafayette 83-66
HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Senior forward Murphy Burnatowski scored 11 of his 25 points in less than four minutes, his hot start sparking Colgate past streaking Lafayette 83-66 on Wednesday night, which was senior night for the Raiders.
Burnatowski dunked and drilled all three of his 3-pointers in the first 3:25 as Colgate (11-17, 5-12 Patriot League) roared off on a 13-1 run to break away from Lafayette in the opening minutes.
Burnatowski finished with 8 of 12 shooting as Colgate hit 61.2 percent from the field (30-49). Ethan Jacobs added 18 points and 10 rebounds, his first double-double.
The Leopards (10-18, 6-11) had come in riding a four-game win streak and managed to stay within six points of Colgate much of the first half. But Jacobs hit a 3-pointer that pushed the lead to 42-31 at halftime.
Nick Lindner matched his career high, scoring 24 for Lafayette. Colgate's bench outscored Lafayette's 33-10.
