Hill leads Gardner-Webb past High Point 80-76
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Jerome Hill scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Gardner-Webb edged High Point 80-76 in Big South action on Saturday night.
Tyrell Nelson added 13 points and Donta Harper 12 for the Runnin' Bulldogs, who made a decisive 24 of 31 from the line, opposed to High Point's 12-of-16 effort.
Gardner-Webb (13-12, 6-4), coming off a 108-104 4-OT loss to VMI on Thursday, trailed High Point 41-34 at the break but tied the score at 50 on an Onzie Branch layup with 12 minutes remaining in the game. Gardner-Webb led by seven with 48 seconds to play but the Panthers scored five straight and trailed 76-74 with 25 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs made 4 of 6 from the stripe to preserve the win.
High Point (10-13, 6-4) was paced by John Brown and Adam Weary who scored 19 points each. Brown added 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
