ARLINGTON, Texas -- Kevin Butler scored 17 points to lead Texas-Arlington to a 68-63 victory against UTSA on Saturday night.
Shaq White-Miller and Greg Gainey added 13 points each for the Mavericks (12-9, 7-5 Western Athletic), who have won four of their last five games. Jordan Reves had eight points and 13 rebounds.
Kannon Burrage scored 22 points and Michael Hale III 18 for the Roadrunners (5-18, 1-2).
UTSA led 45-41 in the second half before Texas-Arlington scored 13 unanswered points, a run that culminated on Butler's three-point play that made it 54-45 with 8:33 remaining. The Roadrunners got within 56-54 on a 3-pointer by Hale III with 4:08 to play.
White-Miller answered with a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to push the lead back to five. Gainey then blocked a UTSA 3-point attempt, which led to a fast-break layup by Butler that put Texas-Arlington up 61-54 with 2:12 left.
