RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Robert Smith scored 21 points, Chris Harriel had 17 points and came up with seven steals and UC Riverside defeated Northern Colorado 69-63 on Saturday night.
UC Riverside (2-6) managed to hold on the victory despite making just 21 of 45 free throws. Taylor Johns grabbed 12 rebounds for the Highlanders.
Tate Unruh was one of four Northern Colorado (1-4) in double figures, leading the Bears with 17 points. Tevin Svihovec scored 13 points, Tim Huskisson had 12 and Derrick Barden pitched in with 11. Barden Also grabbed 14 rebounds and was effective at the defensive end, coming up with four steals.
