CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Following a scramble for a loose ball, DeShone McClure hit a jumper as time expired to send Central Arkansas to a 74-72 victory over Eastern Illinois on Wednesday night.
McClure scored only eight points, but his last bucket came up big for Central Arkansas (2-3), a team that led 34-25 at halftime and barely held off a second-half surge by Eastern Illinois. The Panthers had outscored Central Arkansas 47-38 in the second half up until McClure's clutch shot, ending the comeback.
The Bears shot 49.2 percent, nailing 30-61 attempts and hit nine 3-pointers.
Three players were in double figures for Central Arkansas, led by LaQuentin Miles who scored 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting while adding five assists and four rebounds. Jarvis Garner had 12 points and seven rebounds and Zach Padgett chipped in with 10.
Morris Woods scored 17 points in the loss for Eastern Illinois (3-5).
