Pitchers to stream on Sunday
Justin Wrobleski is coming off a rough start against Washington, where he yielded four runs in just three innings, but he struck out six with only one walk. It was an odd outing for the Los Angeles Dodgers lefty, as half of his 10 hits allowed had an exit velocity over 98 mph, with the other five registering below 88 mph. Wrobleski is in a good spot to rebound facing the Miami Marlins in South Beach. The home team's offense is below average facing left-handers, in part due to an above average strikeout rate.
Cal Quantrill will attempt to log his sixth consecutive quality start when the Texas Rangers visit the Arizona Diamondbacks. Over this five-game stretch, the veteran right-hander has a 1.69 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 28 strikeouts and a scant three walks over 32 stanzas.
The Milwaukee Brewers are using the stretch run to determine the back end of their playoff rotation. Shane Drohan will attempt to make his case with a home date against the Cincinnati Reds. The left-hander will face a lineup that's productive against southpaws, but that's due to their success at home. On the road, the Reds are below average while offering high strikeout potential.
Noah Cameron is one of the few bright spots for the Kansas City Royals in a frustrating season. Over his last five starts, the lefty recorded a 1.74 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, albeit with a modest 27 punchouts in 31 frames. Categorizing streaming him against the Boston Red Sox as a desperation play is excessive, but there is risk. That said, the Red Sox are missing Willson Contreras and Ceddanne Rafaela, two key cogs, especially facing southpaw pitching.
Hitters to stream on Sunday
The Detroit Tigers offense has enjoyed a productive weekend at home against the Colorado Rockies staff. That should continue with Gabriel Hughes taking the hill for the finale. Max Clark, Colt Keith and Brett Callahan enjoy the platoon edge on a right-hander with a 7.76 ERA and 1.55 WHIP on the road.
Chandler Simpson's rostership remains just below 50%, so he's a streaming candidate whenever he's on the field. He deserves an extra mention on Sunday for those needing stolen bases in their head-to-head playoffs. The Tampa Bay Rays host the Houston Astros, a club yielding the seventh-most steals over the season, as well as the seventh-highest over the past month.
Sam Antonacci enjoys a favorable matchup with the Chicago White Sox visiting the St. Louis Cardinals. The rookie and his low 15.7% strikeout rate will step in the box against Michael McGreevey and his modest 16.7% strikeout rate. Not only will Antonacci have an excellent chance of putting the ball in play, but he also has 17 steals, and for the last month, the Cardinals have allowed the 10th-most pilfers in the league.
Alejandro Kirk has been on a roll over the second half, batting .302/.383/.445 in 52 games since June 30. His power is down, but he has slugged .482 over his last 39 games. Catcher is an ideal spot to upgrade on the final day of the fantasy period, and Kirk has the platoon edge on Baltimore Orioles lefty Trevor Rogers, who has given up 15 of his 16 home runs to right-handed batters.
Spencer Jones has fanned at a 36.6% clip over the past month, but when he puts the ball in play, he's batting .326/.382/.543 over that span. The rookie will face Christian Scott in the finale of the Subway Series between the New York Yankees and New York Mets. Scott has a high strikeout rate, but he's also prone to command and control issues.
