The São Paulo Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 race calendar until at least 2035, it was confirmed Saturday ahead of this year's edition.

Interlagos' race has been a popular and long-serving F1 race venue, previously dubbed the Brazilian Grand Prix until it was changed in 2021 to reflect the financial contribution of the city.

The venue already had a deal until 2030, but its extension has followed the trend of modern circuits extending on bumper long-term deals.

The iconic Interlagos circuit has been the home of six championship-deciding races in its history as a race host.

Of the current grid, Fernando Alonso claimed both his 2005 and 2006 titles at Interlagos, while Lewis Hamilton famously won his 2008 championship by passing Timo Glock at the penultimate corner.

Brazil has always been a key market for Formula 1 and this year the race will feature two Brazilian drivers.

Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto lining up for his second Interlagos event alongside Haas debutant Rafael Câmara, who has filled the void left by the sudden departure of Esteban Ocon ahead of last weekend's race in Mexico City.

F1 boss Stefano Domenicali said of the longer deal: "Brazil is an important part of Formula 1's history and our future, and I am delighted that this five-year extension will see us continue racing in São Paulo until 2035.

"The passion of our Brazilian fans is extraordinary, and every time we return to Interlagos we feel their energy in the grandstands and in the city of São Paulo. Brazil has produced an incredible 33 Formula 1 drivers, including Gabriel Bortoleto and Rafael Câmara who are racing this weekend in front of their home crowd, which will add to the many previous unforgettable racing moments in São Paulo.

"The continued success and excitement surrounding the event shows why it holds such a special place on our calendar, and this agreement underlines our long-term commitment to Brazil."
