There are travel nightmares, and then there's just straight-up travel hell. And if you don't know exactly what constitutes the latter, please just ask the players on the Las Vegas Aces.
The team arrived at the Las Vegas airport to fly to Washington, D.C., late in the morning on Thursday, ahead of its Friday night game against the Mystics. As I write this almost 24 hours later, I am stunned and horrified to report: THEY STILL HAVEN'T MADE IT. (They are currently on a plane but not there yet.)
That's right. The team has faced approximately 700 delays and all the stress that comes with them. They spent just about the entire day on Thursday sitting around the airport, waiting to fly and likely draining their phone batteries with all those alerts about changed departure times.
Been at the airport for 6 hours...flight cancelled ...woo chile this flying commercial is something else

Going on hour 7 in the airport. Hoping we can get this resolved. Not trying to travel all night with a stop and have to play a big game tomorrow #SOS #CompetitiveDisadvantage #LAPhotobomb pic.twitter.com/L6CP5goGUG

However, it wasn't all bad. With so much free time on hand, Moriah Jefferson and Lindsay Allen registered to vote. Have to love that commitment to their civic duty.
Got a minute? @LA_Cruisen & @_BonnBonn registered to vote while waiting for our flight! https://t.co/FF3qpHS5p2 pic.twitter.com/hyiK0OrZAq

Well after midnight, the team finally was able to get on a redeye to Dallas, with a connecting flight to D.C. scheduled for Friday morning.
It's 1:09 am and we are still trying to get on a plane...

We can't control the weather, but league can control whether or not player health will be put at risk tomorrow. Delays, cancelations & now taking a red-eye to get to DC @ 1pm. Aces will have been traveling for 24 hrs by the time we land. It takes less time to get to Sydney, AUS

But, of course, once they arrived in Dallas, they found there were more delays, and more issues.
A missing part which means a delay...once again ♀️

ELEVEN HOURS to tip-off, 2.5 hrs til Flight departs Dallas for DC #overbooked pic.twitter.com/t1TDhS1xCJ

Update. Still in Dallas and they just delayed us again. I can't.

The WNBA changed Friday's game to 8 p.m. ET instead of the previously scheduled 7 p.m. in hopes of helping the team, but as they haven't slept in what likely feels like forever, and will barely get time for a shootaround, this (understandably) seems to be of little consolation.
No shoot around. No night of sleep. No beds. No food. Right now we will land in DC at 245pm that has us going straight to the gym bc of traffic and bags...and you want us to play? Oh ok.

Just so we are clear this accommodates nothing... https://t.co/cBsdQTTe02

As of about 11:30 a.m. ET Friday, the players were on their flight and -- gasp -- it even seems to be moving. GODSPEED, ACES.
Y'all the plane is moving pic.twitter.com/b2dpEBmzoS
