After opening the season as 100-1 long shots for the World Series, the AL-leading Tampa Bay Rays have officially entered the top five of the championship odds board at 15-1. The Rays caught bettors and bookmakers alike by surprise, as BetMGM reported the lowest percentage of tickets and handle backing them going into the season.

Another team outperforming preseason expectations is the Milwaukee Brewers, who check in with seventh-best World Series odds (17-1). Milwaukee leads the NL Central standings, but still slightly trail the divisional rival Chicago Cubs (16-1) in the title odds. Chicago has been arguably the streakiest team in baseball this season, reaching a short price of +950 just two weeks ago.

The top of the World Series board has remained largely the same in recent weeks, with the Los Angeles Dodgers (+200), New York Yankees (+600), Atlanta Braves (+900) and Seattle Mariners (11-1) maintaining their places as the top four.
