9.50pm SL are alive in this T20 World Cup, though only just. They draw level with WI with six points, but WI have a superior NRR and they remain second on the Group 2 table, with toppers England having already qualified for the semis. Chamari Athapaththu flew out of the blocks in the powerplay, crashing 33 off 16 balls, but after her dismissal SL's middle order had to work harder for the win. Silva and Kumari held their nerve at the death to seal SL's third win in this competition.
That's all we have for you from this game. Do come back for Saturday's triple-header. Until next time, this is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Hemant Brar and Sudeep Poojar. Goodbye and good night for now.
Silva, Player of the Match: Proud of this performance and proud of the team also. In the WI match I got out early, today I wanted to finish the game and win it for the team. I trust my skill in the middle and that's it. Today also Player of the Match, so proud...
Athapaththu: First of all, I would like to congratulate the way Scotland played today. Actually as a team, we're playing good cricket, but we did not handle pressure in the middle. I'm trying to score more runs in the powerplay and unfortunately I got out and we need to improve on a lot of areas - batting and bowling as well. Highest run-chase at a T20 World Cup is a positive, but at the end of the day we need to improve. Making the semis was our target, but unfortunately we lost to WI. It depends on my performance and fitness [on featuring in the 2028 T20 World Cup]. I'm 36 years old now (laughs)
Bryce: Super Over crossed my mind. I thought if we got a couple of dots, you never know. I think it was quite heartbreaking. In three of our matches we were in positions where we could have got over the line, but also proud of the team. It was right on the edge and the way we fought back in the middle overs after Athapaththu. I learnt a lot as captain and lucky with the players I've got. That [qualification for the 2028 T20 WC] would've meant a lot. Would've been fantastic but we have more cricket to play now. Carter is unbelievable and plays with a smile on her face. We'll see what we can do next.
Nitol: "Heartbreak for Scotland! But you gotta feel for them. Only if they could hold their nerves and close out games, they could have moved to semi final."
Raji: "Whatever the result is, well done Scot girls. The points table doesn't show the intent you showed or the efforts you put. Well done!!! Proud of you girls."
Chatterji is taker her time to get through this over. SL need 2 off 2 balls. Just one woman out on the leg-side boundary
9.44pm Slater is struggling. She has to leave the field. Chatterji to bowl the rest of the over. Bryce has come up to the stumps
9.41pm Okay, Slater goes down. More Drama in Manchester. The physio is out to tend to Slater. The tension mounts at Old Trafford. Bryce, Gordon and Chatterji have a chat. Will Chatterji bowl if Slater isn't fit to finish the over? She continues to receive treatment from the physio. Tense faces in the SL camp
9.40pm Slater pulls up. Throws her head back. Is it cramps? Slater is now ready to resume
SL need 3 off 3 balls
SL need 7 off the final over Slater to bowl it. She will operate from round the wicket
