Toss Sri Lanka chose to bowl vs Scotland

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and opted to bowl first against Scotland on a dry pitch in Manchester.

Sri Lanka still have slim hopes of making it to the semi-finals if they win tonight. To make it a reality, though, they will need England to beat New Zealand and Ireland to trump West Indies.

"I am pretty confident about my bowling unit," Athapaththu said. "I think 130-140 will be a good score to chase. We will try to win this game and then see how the numbers work."

But if Sri Lanka lose, not only will they be eliminated but also miss out on the automatic qualification for the next edition.

Scotland, meanwhile, are out of the semi-finals race but a win tonight will secure them an automatic qualification for the 2028 edition. They made one change to their XI, bringing in Gabriella Fontenla for Hannah Rainey.

The spinners have fared better than the fast bowlers in Manchester this World Cup. The square boundaries for this particular pitch are 61 metres each. The straight one is 70 metres.
