Oregon star wideout Jeremiah McClellan will be out indefinitely because of a broken foot, coach Dan Lanning said Monday.
McClellan broke his foot during warmups ahead of Oregon's game against Portland State on Friday.
"Kind of a weird deal," Lanning said. "Fortunately he's a tough guy."
The junior, who led the No. 20 Ducks in receiving yards through two games, had warmed up in pads ahead of the game and was later seen on the sideline in a boot and using crutches.
Against Boise State in the season opener, McClellan caught six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.
McClellan's injury comes as the Ducks' talented group of pass catchers is also dealing with an undisclosed injury to star tight end Jamari Johnson. Johnson also missed last week's game against Portland State, but Lanning said Monday that he feels good about Johnson playing in Saturday's game against No. 12 USC.
Through three games, injuries have plagued the Ducks. Two weeks ago, Lanning announced that offensive lineman Trent Ferguson would be out for the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
After bouncing back from a shocking upset loss to Oklahoma State with an 84-0 win against Portland State, Oregon is set to begin Big Ten play Saturday against the Trojans in Los Angeles.
"It's as intense as it gets, when you talk about two teams that are competitive, that want to be really good, that have great talent," Lanning said of the matchup. "It means a ton to the fanbase. It's only grown. ... It means a lot to our team."
