Jake Paul won't face Tommy Fury or Francis Ngannou in his next fight, promoter Nakisa Bidarian has said.
Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) has been out of the ring since he had his jaw broken by Anthony Joshua in December last year.
He was cleared to return to action earlier this month after two surgeries in December and February, and could fight late this year or early 2027.
Talks are ongoing with multiple potential opponents.
Most Valuable Promotions co-founder and Paul's business partner Bidarian said the 29-year-old's return won't be a rematch with Fury or a crossover bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou.
Paul will return at cruiserweight.
"We're talking to a lot of people, not saying a lot of people's names, but what I will say is we're hopeful in the next two weeks we will announce his return and his opponent," Bidarian said.
"We've talked to many different opponents, it's no secret we tried to do the Tommy Fury rematch, and that is not longer in discussion, I will say that.
"We're actively looking at all types of opponents but also taking into account he's been out for a year, he's coming back from a broken jaw."
Paul has been open in calling for a clash with Ngannou as well as a second fight against Fury, who handed him his first professional defeat in 2023.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer also produced a list of 15 fighters he wants to face, including Ryan Garcia, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Deontay Wilder as well as Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor in MMA.
Bidarian said they will take a measured approach to Paul's return after he previously conceded his career was in doubt due to the injuries he sustained against Joshua.
"We're certainly not going to put him in there -- even though he would say he would do it -- with Francis Ngannou this time out. Francis is a very big puncher, although Jake thinks he can beat him all day long," Bidarian added.
"We want to do it the right way.
"I think fans will be excited by no matter who the opponent is because you want to see what version of Jake Paul you're getting back. Everything we do with Jake is always special and unique and this one will be no different."
