Nikita Tszyu to make American fight debut in December on David Benavidez undercard

Unbeaten Australian boxer Nikita Tszyu will make his United States debut on December 5, fighting on the David Benavidez-Michal Cieslak undercard.

The unbeaten son of Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu is confirmed to feature at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, the same venue where his legendary father scored the final win of his professional career.

An opponent for Tszyu (12-0-1, 10 KOs) is yet to be confirmed, but Keith Thurman and Tony Harrison, the man his brother Tim beat in 2023 to claim the WBO's interim title at 154 pounds, are both rumoured to be in the mix.

"I'm excited to be making my US debut. I've been building for this moment and am ready for this next step in my career," said Tszyu. "Arizona is also where my father had his last victory, so it holds a special place in my heart. It will be special to write the next chapter of our family's story there."

The 28-year-old Sydney southpaw is yet to taste defeat as a professional and is now ranked top five in the junior middleweight division with both the IBF and WBO.

In recent years, Tszyu has overcome previously unbeaten Lulzim Ismaili and world-ranked Oscar Diaz, before fighting fellow unbeaten Australian Ben Mahoney to a controversial split draw in August.

"This is the one. We've been planning Nikita's American debut for a long time and he's earned it. Now he gets to do it on one of the biggest stages in world boxing," said No Limit Boxing box George Rose.

"Australian fight fans already know what Nikita brings. He's aggressive, he's explosive and he's box office every time he steps through the ropes. To boxing fans in America and around the world watching, you're about to fall in love with Nikita Tszyu.

"You couldn't script it better. Kostya's last win came in that very same arena. Fight fans loved Kostya, and they're going to love Nikita. This is a massive day for Nikita, for the Tszyu legacy, and for Australian boxing."
