Is Stan Kroenke's pitch to share Inglewood not enough?

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- News out of last week's NFL owners meetings in Dallas indicated that St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke had made it known to other owners that he is willing to share his Inglewood stadium project near Los Angeles with another team.

The nature of that letter implied that Kroenke's Rams would take on a full partner in the new building, but further reports have indicated that isn't exactly the case. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora wrote Sunday that Kroenke's pitch was a partnership in name only.

According to that report and others, Kroenke would split the cost of the project and the revenue from football games but not much else. And apparently the pitch wasn't enough to entire either the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders to abandon plans to have a real split of the money and costs in their Carson project.

Adding that to the continued work of the St. Louis stadium task force leads one to think that there's a strong chance the Rams will stay in St. Louis. For now, that still would be jumping the gun a bit, as there's still more than a month until January's next round of owners meetings.

In a related note, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that the Carson proposal took a bit of a hit when it was made clear that a nearby plot of land originally planned for parking and development is no longer available.
