The Texas Rangers' search for outside pitching help might be on hold after receiving some positive news regarding the health of Andrew Cashner.

The Rangers learned Thursday that Cashner, signed as a free agent during the winter, is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day because of a lingering biceps injury. Cashner, however, was back in camp Sunday after visiting a vascular specialist. The 30-year-old is still expected to miss the start of the season, but "he doesn’t expect to miss a significant stretch," reports Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram.
The improved prognosis regarding Cashner "may put the brakes" on the need to pursue outside rotation options, such as Colby Lewis or Doug Fister, says T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.
The Rangers reportedly were at least exploring the idea of bringing back the 37-year-old Lewis following Cashner’s original diagnosis.
