Rams injury report shorter on Wednesday

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- It's become something of a Wednesday tradition for the St. Louis Rams to have a lengthy injury report full of players who aren't necessarily hurt but could use a little extra rest.

But the list Wednesday was about half of its recent length with only seven players on it. That's a good sign for the Rams, especially considering a few of them were simply getting what amounts to a veteran's day off.

Defensive end William Hayes, who had a death in his family Saturday night, was not at practice and center Scott Wells also did not practice for non-injury related reasons. Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis is officially listed as ankle injury but he's been sitting Wednesday and returning for the rest of the practices for the past few weeks.

Elsewhere, the Rams got some good news in the secondary as cornerback Marcus Roberson returned from an ankle injury and was listed as a full participant. Fellow rookie cornerback Lamarcus Joyner, who has been out with a groin injury, is not even listed on Wednesday's report.

Here's the full breakdown of Wednesday's injury report:

Did not practice: DE William Hayes (not injury related), C Scott Wells (not injury related), LB James Laurinaitis (ankle), G Rodger Saffold (shoulder), DE Chris Long (ankle).

Limited participation: LB Will Herring (foot).

Full participation: CB Marcus Roberson (ankle).
