BALTIMORE -- The Carolina Panthers placed outside linebacker Thomas Davis and running back Jonathan Stewart on the inactive list for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
Stewart, who suffered a sprained knee in the second half of last week's 37-19 loss to Pittsburgh, wasn't a surprise. The Panthers signed running back Tauren Poole off their practice squad on Saturday as insurance behind DeAngelo Williams and Darrin Reaves.
Davis, who pulled a hamstring late against the Steelers, was somewhat of a surprise after he practiced on Thursday and Friday.
Davis, who also is dealing with a hip injury, is second behind middle linebacker Luke Kuechly in tackles. Chase Blackburn will fill in for him on the weak side.
I put everything I could into making it back for this game but, I came up short. I'll be back next week better then ever. #KeepPounding

Coach Ron Rivera said on Friday that if he had to sit Davis it might be a tougher conversation than the one he had before the opener with quarterback Cam Newton.
Newton tried to talk Rivera out of sitting him as he recovered from fractured ribs.
