ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- With C.J. Spiller doubtful to play Sunday with an ankle injury, the Buffalo Bills promoted running back Ronnie Wingo from their practice squad, per a league source.
Wingo is an undrafted rookie from Arkansas. The 6-foot-3, 231-pound Wingo spent time with the Atlanta Falcons in training camp, rushing 10 times for 42 yards in the preseason.
In a corresponding move, the Bills waived cornerback Brandon Burton on Friday, the team announced.
Burton was claimed off waivers on Sept. 1 from the Minnesota Vikings. He played in the first five games of the season as a reserve, but was inactive the past two weeks.
The Bills travel to face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
