Taking a look at the Buffalo Bills' roster, which stands at 90 players following the draft and undrafted free-agent signings:
Position: Specialists
Veterans: Kicker Dan Carpenter, kickoff specialist Jordan Gay, punter Colton Schmidt, long-snapper Garrison Sanborn
Drafted rookies: None
Undrafted rookies: Punter Spencer Roth
Rookie camp tryouts: Long-snapper Sam Rodgers (Syracuse)
Early thoughts: The only real question at this position is whether Gay will earn a spot on the 53-man roster, as he did last season under Doug Marrone. The Bills re-signed Gay to a multiyear contract extension this offseason but it's important to note that the deal will only pay him minimum salaries each year. There's no risk to the Bills and they won't be penalized financially if they waive him prior to this season. That puts his roster spot very much in jeopardy, as Ryan hasn't been known to keep a kickoff specialist on his 53-man roster.
