Ruthy Hebard scores 20 points, No. 7 Oregon beats Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. -- For slightly more than a half, No. 7-ranked Oregon received a test from unranked Colorado.
And were able to withstand a challenge they anticipated.
Ruthy Hebard had 20 points and nine rebounds to help Oregon beat Colorado 74-55 on Friday night.
"Our coaches remind us that any time we walk on the floor, (it's) with a target on our back," Hebard said. "Teams will give us their best game and that comes with being a good team."
Sabrina Ionescu, the Pac-12's leading scorer, added 14 points for Oregon (19-3, 8-1 Pac-12), winners of 11 of its last 12. Satou Sabally contributed 12 for the Ducks, winners of 12 of their last 13.
"It wasn't the prettiest game tonight, but credit to them -- they play really hard," Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. "I thought we had some fatigue a good portion of that game."
Kennedy Leonard paced Colorado (11-9, 2-7) with 16 points, but the Buffaloes lost their fifth straight. They last defeated a top 10 team on March 6, 2015, when they knocked off No. 8 Oregon State.
Alexis Robinson's layup drew the Buffaloes to within three points at 39-36 with 8:22 left in the third quarter. Hebard led the Ducks with successive baskets and Ionescu and Justine Hall closed the period with 3-pointers to increase the lead to 56-43.
Colorado got no closer than 71-48 with 6:09 left. Hebard's layup put the game away for good with 3:53 remaining.
