COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Sophie Cunningham scored 13 and No. 24 Missouri beat Abilene Christian 52-46 in the season opener and first round of the Preseason Women's NIT on Friday night.
Cierra Porter had 10 points and 12 rebounds, Lianna Doty added 12 points and Sierra Michaelis scored 11 for the Tigers. Michaelis and Cunningham scored a quick pair of baskets to push Missouri's lead to 50-43 with 2:11.
Breanna Wright answered with a 3-pointer with 1:39 left and Abilene Christian went scoreless from there.
The Wildcats had their last lead at 36-33 with 8:41 left in the fourth quarter on Dominique Golightly's 3-pointer. Missouri answered with 11 straight points to pull away.
Abilene Christian was without last season's Southland Conference Player of the Year, Alexis Mason, who was injured on Monday night in the exhibition against McMurry.
Suzzy Dimba led the Wildcats with 11 points.
