Georgia Lady Bulldogs vs Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy women rally to beat Georgia 54-49 in OT in SEC tourney
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Morgan Batey hit two free throws in the final 19 seconds of overtime, and Vanderbilt upset Georgia 54-49 in the Southeastern Conference women's tournament on Thursday night.
Christa Reed and Minta Spears also came up big for the 11th-seeded Commodores, who will play No. 3 seed Mississippi State on Friday.
Reed scored four points in overtime, and Spears sank three huge free throws with a second left in regulation that forced the extra frame. Reed led the Commodores (18-13) with 18 points and Spears added 17.
No. 6 seed Georgia (21-9) looked like it had the victory in hand, leading 44-38 with a minute to play, but was doomed by consecutive turnovers.
Freshman Caliya Robinson had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs before fouling out late in regulation.
Georgia lost guard Tiaria Griffin to a leg injury in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs already were without Shacobia Barbee (broken leg) and Mackenzie Engram (respiratory illness).
