No. 15 Stanford women defeat Utah 72-54
SALT LAKE CITY -- Erica McCall scored 18 points and No. 15 Stanford used a decisive second-half run to defeat Utah 72-54 on Sunday for its seventh win in eight games.
McCall was 8 of 13 from the field with nine rebounds and seven blocked shots for the Cardinal (22-6, 12-4 Pac 12). Kaylee Johnson scored 11 points with eight boards. Stanford shot over 40 percent despite making just 1 of 11 3-point attempts.
Utah (15-12, 7-9) was led by Paige Crozon with 11 points and Emily Potter with 10. Both players grabbed 10 rebounds. The Utes have lost 3 of 4.
Stanford led by one late in the first half but got jumpers by McCall and Johnson and led 31-27 at the break. A 17-1 run that bridged the third and fourth quarters -- in which Utah missed 13 consecutive shots -- allowed Stanford to win comfortably.
