Virginia women defeat No. 22 Miami 76-56
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Lauren Moses and Faith Randolph scored 16 points apiece and Virginia beat No. 22 Miami 76-56 on Sunday.
Breyana Mason added 14 points, Mikayla Venson 12 and Aliyah Huland El 11 for the Cavaliers (11-4, 1-0 ACC), who extended their winning streak to three and have won six of their last seven with all six wins coming at home. Randolph had eight assists.
Jessica Thomas scored 12 points for the Hurricanes (13-2, 1-1), who had a three-game winning streak snapped. It's only previous loss was to No. 4 Baylor.
Leading by one after the first quarter, Virginia shot 62 percent in the second in outscoring Miami 28-9 and followed that up by outscoring the Hurricanes 23-12 in the third when the Cavaliers had their largest lead of 33 points.
The Hurricanes committed 28 turnovers that turned into 26 Virginia points and were only 3 of 14 from the 3-point arc.
