No. 11 Florida State women blitz Wake Forest 96-55
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Brittany Brown had 22 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists and four steals and No. 11 Florida State cruised to its seventh-straight win, 96-55 over Wake Forest on Thursday night.
Shakayla Thomas added 16 points and Ivey Slaughter and Maria Conde had 15 apiece for the Seminoles (17-4, 7-1 ACC), who hit 11 of 18 shots in the first quarter in racing to a 27-9 lead. It was a career-high for Conde, as were Brown's 11 assists.
The Demon Deacons (11-10, 2-6) outscored Florida State 24-21 in the second quarter but were outscored 48-22 in the second half.
Freshman Ariel Stephenson came off the bench for 20 points, one shy of her career high, and Elisa Penna scored 10 for Wake Forest.
Florida State shot 54 percent (37 of 69) and outrebounded the Demon Deacons 39-19. The Seminoles also turned 30 Wake Forest turnovers into 33 points.
