Butler leads No. 18 Syracuse women past Boston College 71-55
BOSTON -- Brianna Butler hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points and No. 18 Syracuse closed its regular season with a 71-55 win over Boston College on Thursday night.
The Orange (23-6, 13-3 ACC) have won nine straight, including a win over Florida State, to clinch the third seed in the league tournament next week.
Britnney Sykes added 15 points and Alexis Peterson 12 for the Orange, who made 10 of 11 free throws in the second half while the Eagles (14-14, 2-13) were 8 of 12 for the game.
Syracuse used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to break the game open. Cornelia Fondren's layup at 7:55 made it 57-47. Sykes had two free throws at 1:22 for a 69-47 lead. Boston College missed eight-straight shots and had four turnovers before a layup by Katie Quandt with 1:10 to play.
Mariella Fasoula had 15 for the Eagles.
Butler has 1,542 points, fifth on the school career list.
