Romero, No. 10 Florida State women beat Jacksonville 77-60
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Shakayla Thomas scored 23 and Leticia Romero finished with 18 points, five rebounds and eight assists to help No. 15 Florida State women beat Jacksonville 77-60 Monday night.
Five players scored as Florida State (10-3) opened up a 10-0 lead about 3 1/2 minutes in, and five-straight points by Adut Bulgak gave the Seminoles a 17-2 lead roughly three minutes later.
Sherranda Reddick's 3-pointer capped an 8-0 Jacksonville run to open the second quarter and pulled the Dolphins within five, but Florida State responded with a 13-4 run that was capped by a 3 by Romero to make it 33-19 with 2:55 left in the half. Florida State led by double figures the rest of the way.
Romero made a career-high tying four 3-pointers, and Bulgak scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting for Florida State.
Christin Mercer led Jacksonville (6-7) with 18 points and Reddick scored 15.
