No. 15 Texas A&M women hold off No. 11 Mississippi St 64-58
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Courtney Williams had 22 points and Courtney Walker had 21 and No. 15 Texas A&M defeated No. 11 Mississippi State 64-58 on Thursday night.
The Aggies trailed by 11 late in the second quarter before Danni Williams made two free throws after the fourth offensive rebound and Taylor Cooper had a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to cut it to 32-26 at the half. Walker opened the second half with two jumpers but A&M didn't take the lead until a Williams layup at the 1:32 mark.
With a one-point lead entering the fourth quarter, Williams knocked down a 3 and the Bulldogs never caught up.
Williams had 11 points, Walker 15 and Texas A&M (17-7, 7-4 SEC) shot 60 percent in the second half (15 of 25).
Morgan William scored 18 points to lead led Mississippi State (21-5, 8-4), which shot 31 percent (19 of 61). Victoria Vivians added 13 and Dominique Dillingham 11.
