No. 20 Florida women rally to defeat LSU 53-45
GAINSVILLE, Fla. -- Eleanna Christinaki scored 15 points and No. 20 Florida rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat LSU 53-46 on Sunday despite horrendous foul shooting.
The Gators (15-3, 3-2 SEC) trailed 38-33 entering the fourth quarter but Ronni Williams made two layups and Christinaki had a 3-pointer and a layup to turn a six-point deficit into a 44-41 lead with four minutes left.
Anne Pedersen's jumper with a minute to play pulled the Tigers (7-11, 1-4) within 48-45 but after a Florida turnover, LSU missed two shots and then gave up offensive rebounds off two missed free throws.
Florida, coming off a home loss to Georgia after entering the rankings for the first time since the end of the 2008-09 season, was 5 of 12 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and 11 of 26 for the game. The Gators, who also had 24 turnovers, shot 50 percent from the field.
Alexis Hyder had 13 points and 10 rebounds for LSU.
