No. 21 Arizona State women beat Hartford 60-29
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Katie Hempen made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points and No. 21 Arizona State's defense keyed a 60-29 win over Hartford on Monday night for coach Charli Turner Thorne's 400th career victory.
Arizona State, which has won six of its last seven games, set a school record for fewest points allowed in a half as Hartford scored just six by halftime. The Sun Devils' program record for fewest points in a game is 23, set on Dec. 6, 2008 against UC Irvine.
Elisha Davis added six points and 10 rebounds for Arizona State (6-3), which held Hartford to 24 percent shooting and forced 18 turnovers.
Arizona State was up 44-11 with four minutes left in the third quarter.
Deanna Mayza made five of Hartford's 10 field goals and finished with 14 points. The Hawks (4-6) were limited to 13 percent shooting in the first half on only two field goals.
