Anigwe, No. 22 Cal women beat Nebraska 87-80 in OT
BERKELEY, Calif. -- Kristine Anigwe scored 29 points, including five in overtime, and grabbed 10 rebounds and No. 22 California beat Nebraska 87-80 on Saturday night.
Cal (7-2) led 81-80 before the Golden Bears made six free throws, three by Anigwe, in the final minute.
Mikayla Cowling's basket for Cal with 59 seconds left in regulation led to overtime.
Courtney Range, with four 3-pointers, and Cowling each scored 19 points for Cal. Asha Thomas added 17.
The game matched two of the nation's best freshman post players in Anigwe, who averages 29 points per game, and Jessica Shepard, who was averaging 19.3. But Shepard scored just six points and fouled out early in the overtime.
Natalie Romeo, with six 3-pointers, led Nebraska (7-2) with 24 points. Allie Havers added a career-high 18 and Rachel Theriot had 17.
Nebraska led by 13 in the first quarter and Cal by 10 in the third quarter.
