No. 5 Maryland extends streak after beating Penn State
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 21 points, Brionna Jones had 11 rebounds and No. 5 Maryland cruised past Penn State 77-62 on Thursday night for its 14th consecutive victory.
Laurin Mincy added 11 points for Maryland, a Big Ten newcomer that is having early success.
Lindsey Spann scored 16 points and Sierra Moore 13 to lead Penn State (5-18, 2-10 Big Ten). The Lady Lions have lost 11 of their last 13 games.
Maryland (20-2, 11-0) shot 31 of 61 from the field and 4 of 14 from 3-point range. Jones' rebounding effort spurred the Terps to a 39-34 advantage on the boards.
Penn State was 27 of 68 from the field and just 1 of 8 from long range.
Maryland led 41-24 at the half after trailing 17-10. Penn State's second half was slightly more spirited, but the Lady Lions had no answer for the Terrapins under the rim and their shooting woes continued.

Maryland's Laurin Mincy knocked down a 3-pointer, a pair of foul shots and a layup to help the Terps pull away to a 57-34 second-half lead.
Penn State went cold, missing three layups and other short jumper before Tori Waldner made good on three straight layups. Walker-Kimbrough's 20th and 21st points gave Maryland a 62-40 advantage.
PSU did lead 17-10 just over 9 minutes into the game after a 15-6 run, as Maryland opened by shooting 4 of 14 and committed five turnovers.
But that improved greatly to 53 percent by the end of the half. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored five points, Malina Howard's layup tied the game at 17 and the Terps gained momentum with a 20-1 scoring burst that resulted in a 30-18 lead.
Candice Agee's layup at the 3:15 mark was Penn State's first field goal in 7:34.
Maryland extended its lead to 41-24 at the half.
