EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Aerial Powers scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and No. 16 Michigan State beat Oakland 79-64 on Wednesday night.
Tori Jankoska added 19 points, Anna Morrissey 11 and Jasmine Hines 10 for the Spartans (3-1). Powers is the first player in the MSU women's basketball program to open the season with four straight double-doubles.
Olivia Nash led the Golden Grizzlies (1-3) with 17 points and seven rebounds. Elena Popkey added 14 points and Nola Anderson 12.
Michigan State made 18 of 38 shots for 47.4 percent in taking a 41-27 halftime lead over Oakland. Powers had 16 points and seven rebounds. The Golden Grizzlies shot just 30 percent in opening half.
Michigan State led by as many as 20 points in the second half.
The Spartans dominated the boards, 52-25, including 14 offensive rebounds as they scored 42 points in the paint to Oakland's 26.
