Walker, No. 15 Texas A&M women beat Alabama, 70-49
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Courtney Walker scored a career-high 27, moving into ninth on Texas A&M's career scoring list with 1,327 points, and the No. 15 Aggie women beat Alabama 70-49 Monday night to secure their 10th consecutive 20-win season.
Jordan Jones, who came into the game leading the SEC and ranked 11th nationally at 6.7 assists per game, had 10 assists for Texas A&M (20-6, 8-4 SEC), and the junior moved into fourth on the school's career list with 508. Courtney Williams added 13 points, giving her 1,006 for career, and Chelsea Jennings scored 10 for the Aggies.
Texas A&M, which made 34 of 65 (52.3 percent) field goals and outrebounded Alabama 38-26, closed the first half with a 10-2 run and took a 31-19 lead into the break.
Alabama (13-14, 2-10) pulled within 10 when Quanetria Bolton hit a 3-pointer with 14:07 left, but Walker scored the first seven of 11 straight by Texas A&M to make it 52-31 about three minutes later.
Ashley Williams led the Crimson Tide with 15 points.
