No. 11 North Carolina beats Prairie View 81-45
HONOLULU -- Jamie Cherry scored 15 points, Alisha Gray and Danielle Butts each added 13, and No. 11 North Carolina handily beat Prairie View A&M 81-45 Saturday night in a Rainbow Wahine Shootout game.
Gray and Butts both grabbed seven rebounds for the Tar Heels (5-0), who beat Stanford 70-54 Friday to open the tournament and will face Hawaii Sunday. Stephanie Mavunga had four blocks and the Tar Heels forced 23 turnovers.
Jeanette Jackson scored 24 for the Lady Panthers (0-5), who lost to Hawaii 72-58 Friday and play Stanford Sunday.
The Tar Heels opened with a 10-1 run in which Gray scored six, then used a 20-1 run to pull to a 33-7 lead. The Lady Panthers shot just 20.8 percent from the field, and North Carolina led 42-21 at halftime.
North Carolina ripped a 15-2 run to open the second half and pulled away to lead by as many as 39.
