No. 22 George Washington women beat Richmond 81-69 in OT
RICHMOND, Va. -- Caira Washington scored 17 points and Lauren Chase fueled the breakaway run Thursday night to lead No. 22 George Washington to an 81-69 overtime win over Richmond that locked up a top seed and at least a share of the Atlantic 10 regular season championship for the Colonials.
Richmond's Janelle Hubbard hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 67 and force overtime but George Washington took control after that, scoring the first 11 points in the extra period. Chase, who finished with 16 points, dropped a layup and hit 5 of 6 from the free throw line in OT.
Jonquel Jones had 13 points to go with 16 rebounds and Hannah Schaible added 10 points for GW (25-3, 14-1), which shot 50 percent from the floor on 64 attempts.
Hubbard led Richmond (16-12, 8-7) with 21 points, Genevieve Okora added 15, Lauren Tolson 12 and Micaela Parson 11.
