No. 24 George Washington women defeat Fordham 83-65
WASHINGTON -- Jonquel Jones made the most of her limited playing time, scoring 16 points -- including 14 in a row -- during a five-minute display to finish with 22 points on 100-percent shooting as No. 24 George Washington walloped Fordham 83-65 on Saturday.
Jones and fellow post players Caira Washington and Kelli Prange combined for 52 points against Fordham, the Atlantic 10's top defense.
The Colonials (23-3, 13-1 A10) shot 52 percent (35-67) while outrebounding Fordham (17-10, 9-5) 41-36.
Jones, who sat much of the game with three fouls, made all 10 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, to set a program record 100 percent from the floor. Washington finished with 18 points before fouling out, Prange added 12 off the bench and Chakecia Miller scored 10 with four steals.
Sophomore Danielle Burns led Fordham with a career-best 12 points off the bench. Emily Tapio also scored 12 with six assists.
