Orrange, No. 15 Stanford women beat Colorado 62-55
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Amber Orrange scored a career-high 26, and Lili Thompson added 17 points to lead No. 15 Stanford women past Colorado 62-55 in the Pac-12 opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Orrange made a career-high 10 field goals on 16 attempts and Thompson made 7 of 12 shots as Stanford (9-4) beat Colorado for the eighth-straight time.
Haley Smith and Lexy Kresl combined to make 6 of 17 field goals and score just 14 total points, more than 11 below their season average, for Colorado (7-5).
Brecca Thomas hit a 3 with 10:14 which capped a 12-0 run and gave Colorado its first lead, 43-42, since the opening minutes.
Bonnie Samuelson answered with a 3 of her own just 12 seconds later, sparking a 15-4 run which gave Stanford a 10-point lead. Orrange scored nine during that stretch.
Jen Reese sandwiched a pair of jumpers around two free throws to make it 57-53 with a minute to go, but a bucket by Orrange sealed it.
