Maryland Terrapins vs Ohio Bobcats
Lexie Brown, No. 8 Maryland beat Ohio in Puerto Rico
GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico -- Maryland coach Brenda Frese has been happy with the progress of her guards so far this season.
Freshman Lexie Brown scored a season-high 16 points and Brene Moseley had 12 points and nine assists in No. 8 Maryland's 84-60 rout of Ohio in the San Juan Shootout on Friday. Moseley had 18 assists over the two games of the tournament.
"I was really proud how we kept up our level of play on short rest from yesterday," Frese said. "It was great to see Lexie and Brene score as well as distribute. Just proud of how we got down to business when we needed to this weekend. Lexie is a player and we've known that since she was 15. She wants the ball and we're starting to see that really consistently. She can score and distribute and it's just great to have so many options."
Alyssa Thomas had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Malina Howard had 13 points for the Terrapins (7-1).
Maryland trailed 14-11 early on before taking over with a 26-5 run. The Terrapins led 44-25 at the half.
The Terrapins' next game is at home against Ohio State in the ACC/Big Ten challenge on Wednesday night.
Lexie Baldwin and Kiyanna Black each scored 12 points to lead the Bobcats (3-3).
