FORT WORTH, Texas -- Asya Bussie scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds as No. 20 West Virginia overcame a sloppy offensive performance to beat TCU 66-62 Saturday night.
Donielle Breaux's layup with 7:50 to play put TCU (12-9, 3-6 Big 12) up by six. West Virginia used a 16-4 run, capped by the second of back-to-back 3-pointers by Taylor Palmer, to open up a 62-56 lead with 2:34 remaining.
Zahna Medley single-handedly outscored West Virginia (19-3, 8-2) 6-1 during a 59 second stretch to pull the Horned Frogs within one, 62-63, with 37 seconds left. Palmer then hit 3 of 4 free throws to seal the win for West Virginia.
Palmer finished with 14 points and Averee Fields added 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Mountaineers shot just 35 percent and committed 16 turnovers but out-rebounded TCU 52-26, including a 21-6 advantage on the offensive glass.
Medley finished with 29 points.
