No. 12 Dayton wins, assured piece of A-10 title
ST. LOUIS -- Andrea Hoover scored 16 points and No. 12 Dayton assured itself of at least a share of the Atlantic 10 championship, defeating Saint Louis 71-61 Thursday night.
The Flyers (25-1, 13-0 A-10) won their 13th straight game. They have a one-game lead over Charlotte and Dayton has one regular-season game remaining, at home against Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
Hoover scored 11 points in the first half as the Flyers led 33-19. They stretched the lead to as many as 20 points midway through the second half before Saint Louis rallied, but the Billikens got no closer than six points.
Ally Malott finished with 12 points for Dayton.
Webb led the Billikens (11-17, 5-8) with 16 points. Lorreal Jones had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Saint Louis, and Mallory Eggert and Desirae Ball also scored 11 points.
