McCoughtry, Gray each score 18 points, Dream top Sun 90-77
ATLANTA -- Angel McCoughtry and Reshanda Gray each scored 18 points and the Atlanta Dream beat the Connecticut Sun 90-77 on Sunday.
Shoni Schimmel added 15 points to help the Dream (9-15) beat the Sun (12-12) for the first time in three games this season. The two teams will meet again in two of their next three games.
McCoughtry scored nine of her points in the third quarter when the Dream took their first lead. Atlanta ended the period on a 17-5 run and scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to go up 74-59.
Jennifer Lacy led Connecticut with 21 points. The Sun took a 20-6 lead in the first half when they shot 55.6 percent, including 7 of 15 3-pointers, but suffered through 1-for-17 stretch in the second half and finished at 39.7 percent.
The Dream made 31 of 36 free throws, including 12 straight at the end.
