NEW YORK -- Coco Gauff is back in the US Open quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament three years ago.
Gauff, the No. 4 seed, beat No. 14 Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4 on Monday night for her 10th victory in a row and ninth consecutive straight-sets win, the longest such streak of her career. She advanced to face fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva on Wednesday.
"I thought today was a good match for me," Gauff said. "First set was really high level for me, and she raised her level in the second and I had some opportunities to maybe get up some early breaks. We're all just happy with how I was able to close the last game out from love-30."
Gauff won the US Open in 2023 for her first major title. She was eliminated by Emma Navarro in the fourth round the following year and by Naomi Osaka in 2025.
Gauff hasn't dropped a set since her first match at the Cincinnati Open. She won six matches there en route to the title and her first four in New York.
This year, she has reached three major quarterfinals for the first time in her career, becoming, at 22, the youngest American woman to do so in one year since 21-year-old Serena Williams in 2003.
"The quarterfinal for me, I feel like I'm at the point where I'm used to being in this position," Gauff said. "The moment doesn't seem as big anymore ... [but] I'm very lucky to be playing here in the quarterfinal and obviously I hope to play many more."
Jovic, who edged No. 17 Alexandra Eala in the previous round, was trying to match her best performance in a Grand Slam tournament. She reached this year's Australian Open quarterfinals.
Gauff leads French Open champion Andreeva 5-0 in their head-to-head series, including their only hard-court meeting at the 2023 US Open.
